Job Description

Location: Onsite at Elk Grove Village, IL 
Reports To: Director of Physical Security 
Travel: Up to 20% 

Job Summary: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Center Security Manager to lead and manage all aspects of physical security operations across our critical infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of personnel, facilities, and assets, while maintaining strict compliance with corporate and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in security operations, team leadership, incident response, and risk management. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage physical security operations including access control systems, CCTV, alarm systems, and perimeter protection measures. 

  • Ensure a secure environment for all employees, visitors, vendors, and property within the data center. 

  • Supervise and manage a team of 24/7 armed and unarmed Security Officers, providing direction, training, and performance management. 

  • Develop, deliver, and monitor comprehensive training programs to maintain high team performance and compliance with industry standards. 

  • Lead the response and investigation of all security incidents and threats, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions. 

  • Conduct security risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies based on current threat intelligence and industry best practices. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support site safety, business continuity, and emergency preparedness initiatives. 

  • Maintain strong working relationships with local emergency services including police, fire, and EMS. 

  • Oversee First Aid, CPR, and AED readiness programs to ensure swift response capabilities. 

  • Coordinate the execution and maintenance of Emergency Action Plans, Fire Protection Plans, and Disaster Recovery Plans. 

  • Lead and manage special safety and security-related projects as assigned. 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of operational or physical security experience, or Associate’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience. 

  • 5 + years of experience in operational or physical security environments. 

  • 3+ of experience managing relationships with security vendors, contractors, and internal/external stakeholders. 

  • 2+ years of project management experience in a security or operational setting. 

  • Proven experience in leading security teams, especially in high-risk or mission-critical environments. 

  • Ability to travel up to 20% to support other sites and conduct training sessions as needed. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in data center, critical infrastructure, or similar high-security environments. 

  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC2, or similar. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Proficient in incident management tools, reporting systems, and physical security technologies. 

  • Knowledge of Genetec Access Control System is a Plus.
